“If a person is capable of portraying his various feelings in an artistic manner then that is art, the work itself communicates a silent language”. These words are those of K.K. Karmacharya who was inspired to devote his life to serve and contribute to society through his paintings.

K.K. Karmacharya started painting since early childhood. He had a strange fascination towards art even as a childhood. He was so enthusiastic that even a plain ground or wall or pieces of paper were enough to attract him to do his sketches. In those days, basic things like paper, pencils and colors were out of reach. As an alternate, he visited the Bishnumati river quite often and collected brown mud which he utilized as color to formulate his creations. His inclination towards art was definitely intriguing. Just the sight of a pile of white sheets of paper gave him an earnest desire to draw. He craved for it so much that once as he could not resist the temptation to pick up a pile from the house owners’ room, but was caught. The house owner advised him never to be involved in such activities, but encouraged Kancha Kumar Karmacharya by providing him some sheets of paper to explore his creativity.

At times he got so engrossed in his work that even his own existence seemed to be inconsequential. The reality that surrounded his life also did not bother him in such moments. Getting deeply involved in painting and creating beautiful and attractive paintings gradually became a habit. Giving continuity to this habit of his transformed Kancha Kumar Karmacharya to the popular K.K. Karmacharya.

K.K. Karmacharya’s works are mostly realistic. But they can also be considered a delightful culmination of abstract and semi abstract images. Instead of focusing on semi abstract works only, one can perceive that his works have also been inspired by a feeling of nationality. But the most prominent factor in his paintings is the way he depicts beautiful landscapes and sceneries as well as the representation of intricately woven human relations.

In this exhibition titled “100 Images of Nepal” Nepali society and lifestyle along with the rich cultural heritage that Nepal is endowed with has been presented very effectively and artistically through the combination of colors and forms. He is an expert in making touching paintings by balancing the resemblance to the real world with his creative imagination. His work is composed with proportionate combination of colors and lines. While he is unparalleled in presenting expressions, feelings and postures. His art has become more original and pleasing as he is adept in creating images and symbols which are soothing to the eye. His art includes not only various facets of Nepali nationality but also the living Nepali culture. It is complete and illustrates the social aspects marvelously.

About four decades of his artistic journey has been a combination of natural beauty and the soothing flow of different shades and hues. He is an expert in both water color and oils to create a natural feeling. His brilliance in using light and subdued colors in an array of artistic imaginations runs across infinite pattern of thoughts.

Not only his paintings of landscapes but facial expressions are also equally attractive and admirable. His paintings are vigorous and bestow a message. He is also regarded as an excellent craftsman for the sculptures he has created; They are brimming with maturity, charm and are heart warming.

K.K Karmacharya is a person who in endowed with the virtue of honesty and appreciates this quality in others as well. He is very influenced by great personalities like Siddhartha Gautam and Arniko, whom he greatly respects. He is loyal towards his country and society. Simplicity, politeness and devotion are three qualities he is endeavored with.
